Forest Meditation
Remembering grandmothers in housecoats and slippers, I wandered my forest this morning in the 'new age' attire of middle-aged aged women... yoga pants, hoodie and a wrap.
Coffee in hand, I noticed how exuberant the birds are this morning: a pileated woodpecker hammers at a treetop, geese honk in the distance.
When might the ruby throated hummingbirds return?
Will have to check the migration map later, I think.
The leaves and new flowers glisten with yesterday's rain.
Ground cover and moss are like the first strokes of color on a painter's canvas.
As the sun brightens the day, everything feels new.
